Developer snaps up central Truganina site

Bambis recently leased a Truganina property (outlined), relocating from Coburg.

An industrial developer has acquired a 2.1 hectare central Truganina site for $15 million.

The 11,000 square metre facility proposed at 8 Agar Drive.

The land is one of the only undeveloped pieces of Agar Drive, where JB Hi Fi, Newcold and Visy have in the last five years established major distribution centres.

Off Robinsons Road and a Western Highway exit, CEVA Logistics also occupies major properties in the pocket – all up over 200,000 square metres.

One of its warehouses, owned by Frasers Property Industrial, is within a 16.6ha facility on Doriemus Dve, part abutting a freight line which could longer-term be set up as a stop to service the commercial area.

Neighbourhood forming

CBRE marketed the land, 8 Agar Drive; Tom Hayes and Harry Kalaitzis were the agents.

The new owner is proceeding with a permitted project for a 10,500 sqm complex attached to a 500 sqm double storey office (story continues below).

The property will also offer several cantilevered loading docks off a wraparound driveway.

The same agents, who are managing the lease with Tom Murphy, said any potential occupier can customise the proposal.

Elsewhere in the area, Bambis, behind the Salt & Pepper and Curtis Stone homeware brands, recently committed to a 1.67 hectare, 11,417 sqm facility, again owned by Frasers, on Efficient Dve – a move which saw it relocate from Moreland Road, Coburg.

GPT has also secured a few mid-size industrial tenancies in Truganina recently, including to Godfrey Hirst (14,406 sqm), Petstock (12,082 sqm) and Signet (8225 sqm).

ESR meanwhile last year attracted 101 Warehousing to a 21,830 sqm complex in the suburb – an extension of a 9923 sqm warehouse that occupier rented for five years prior.
