Clive Palmer drops $18.5m for Gold Coast penthouse
Clive Palmer has bought another trophy Mermaid Beach property – this time a full floor sub-penthouse in a recently completed Sunland project.
The deal for the 650 square metre apartment is worth $18.5 million.
On the 43rd floor it contains four bedrooms, each with an ensuite.
Two are configured as master suites also with walk in wardrobes.
There is also a home theatre, study and entertainment terrace with a built-in kitchen, integrating with the wraparound balcony, and three car parks.
The vendors, Ansel and Jacqueline Clarke, paid $8.2m off-the-plan in 2021. They were represented for the on sale by Kolloshe’s Michael Kollosche, Danny Stanley and Matthew Follent.
$85m portfolio on Gold Coast’s best street
Hedges Avenue is considered the Gold Coast’s most exclusive street (continues below).
Mr Palmer outlaid $12m in 2018 for his first main home in the street, a Hamptons style dwelling.
In 2024, he paid $28m for triple fronted Hedges Ave block and $26m for another on the road, spanning 933 sqm.
Also two years ago, Mr Palmer bought a Mermaid Beach home on Albatross Ave.
Once owned by V8 Supercars racer Paul Weel, it cost $16.5m.
Mermaid Beach is about six kilometres north of Surfers Paradise.
