Ex-civic centre closer to redevelopment
The City of Gold Coast is seeking to sell the Nerang Administration Precinct and partner with the private sector to deliver a community building on part of it.
The site includes the former Nerang Administration Centre, Bicentennial Building and adjoining council-owned land, combined into a single opportunity.
Under the proposed structure, a private group have development rights over the surplus land in exchange for a new building dubbed the Hinterland Gateway Community Hub, expected to include library services, an auditorium, meeting rooms, learning facilities and performance spaces.
This facility is also intended to operate as an evacuation centre during natural disasters.

The procurement process for 833 Southport Nerang Road, Nerang, will be managed by Invest Gold Coast, the City of Gold Coast’s economic development arm (continues below).
A market process is expected to commence in coming months.
Residential development is expected to form part of the broader mixed-use outcome, although scale, height and dwelling yield have not been released.
The precinct forms part of council-owned land identified for potential renewal in line with broader city planning objectives for Nerang, which sits within the Gold Coast’s inland corridor.
