Camberwell house price record set

A trophy mansion in Camberwell, listed for private sale last month, is exchanging for a speculated price of more than $12 million – becoming the eastern Melbourne suburb’s first eight figure deal.

The Waterloo Street home, on a 2960 square metre battle-axe block with a tennis court, putting green and swimming pool, includes a double-storey residence with five bedrooms, a study, theatre room, rumpus room and gym.

It was on the market for just three weeks

Marshall White’s Andrew Gibbons and Mark Sutherland, the agents, declined to comment.

it is the third Camberwell property in three months to challenge the $8m million price record set at the end of 2016 when c1909 Carramah, at 31 Canterbury Road, sold.

A year earlier, Clifton in the suburb’s Tara Estate traded for $7.7m

In July a modern home in the Golf Links Estate was listed with a $9.5-$10.4m guide.

In June, 15 Victoria Rd looked like it set the watermark – its upper end quote was more than $8m (but shortly thereafter revised down).
