Camberwell listing with eight figure price tag may smash record

The record price for a Camberwell home could soon be broken – twice – with one of two properties recently hitting the market expected to be that suburb’s first eight-figure deal.

The first property which may break the $7.7 million record is 15 Victoria Road – an 80-year old Federation with four bedrooms and a study at the north-east corner of Berwick Street, in the suburb’s revered Tara Estate.

Listed for sale with Cooper Newman Real Estate last month, this home is being quoted with an upper end price guide of just over $8 million.

This result would surpass the watermark set when a Camberwell home at 27-29 Kintore Street, also in Tara Estate, sold in September 2015.

Also in the eastern suburb, a new home listed for sale this week at 13 Christowel Street (pictured) could become Camberwell’s biggest residential deal to date – with a guide price of between $9.5 million and $10.4 million.

The opulent manor over three floors includes four bedrooms, a study, cinema, theatre room, gym, six car basement garage, swimming pool and tennis court. Agents Stephen Carter, Paul Richards, and May Zhu of Bekdon Richards have the private sale listing.

This home, which replaced a c1924 single-storey Spanish Mission dwelling, was developed on an approximate 1560 square metre “double block” in the Golf Links Estate which sold for $3.05 million in 2009.
