Developer secures final pieces of Dianella Broadcast Precinct

The two sites were offered by Bruce Gordon.

Nigel Satterley has bought the ex-Channel 9 and Network 10 broadcast sites in Perth’s inner north from media entrepreneur Bruce Gordon.

Satterley is paying $48.5 million for the two blocks.

The final parcels in the former Dianella Broadcast Precinct, they cost a total $48.5 million.

The largest, 55 and 56 Cottonwood Crescent, spreads 7.01 hectares.

Mr Gordon purchased this from Network Ten about 10 years ago.

The second offering, lots 1 and 2 Gay Street, spanning 5.09ha, was bought from Sunraysia Television in 2007.

It was retained after Mr Gordon sold WIN to Nine Perth in 2013.

Both properties were offered after a local structure plan allowing for residential redevelopment.

Dianella is about eight kilometres from town (continues below).

Elevated parts of the sites have city skyline views.

Studio trifecta

The Dianella Broadcast Precinct was established in the 1980s when networks needed buffer zones.

Perth based Satterley, Australia’s second largest residential developer, redeveloped the area’s ex-Channel 7 studio as housing from 1999 securing a a rezoning.

Mr Gordon held the last two sites, spanning a total 12.09ha, via an entity, Gay Street Property Holdings Pty Ltd.

They were offered with schemes to make way for 448 dwellings, the bulk (348) as apartments and townhouses.
