Animal hospital leases ex-Thirsty Camel HQ

Lort Smith’s Villiers Street headquarters is being revamped in stages.

Lort Smith Animal Hospital has leased a large strata office around the corner from its recently redeveloped hospital and headquarters.

Lort Smith bought the Campbellfield sites, now a vet and office, in 2018.

The 420 square metre space, unit 4, 13-21 Vale Street, North Melbourne (outlined, image, top), is co-owned by the Victorian Primary Principals Association and the Victorian Association of State Secondary Principals – also not-for-profits.

It was once Thirsty Camel’s headquarters.

The bottle shop chain moved to Hawthorn East then in 2023, bought its South Melbourne base.

Gorman Commercial’s Charlie MacIsaac marketed Vale St.

The office was asking $125,000 per annum rent in separate campaigns in mid-2022 and 2023.

Lort Smith expands again

Lort Smith began redeveloping its Villiers St hospital in 2022 opening the first stage two years later (continues below).

The completed complex is designed to be twice the size of the former facility.

The organisation also recently opened a veterinary clinic and adoption centre in Campbellfield.

At Vale St, it will be joined by both of its landlords which occupy other strata offices.

Other occupiers include Vida Psychology, Prospervest and RSP Consulting Engineers.

This pocket of town is about two kilometres north-west of the CBD.
