APH moves forward with hotels at Box Hill, Hawthorn

APH will build a seven level hotel at 852-858 Glenferrie Road.

APH will replace its Hawthorn headquarters with a seven storey hotel after securing a pre-commitment from Accor.

Deal Corp recently pre-committed US-based chain, The Standard, to a Fitzroy guesthouse.

The 87 room guesthouse at 852-858 Glenferrie Road will trade as Novotel Hawthorn.

With a bar/restaurant, function rooms and gym, it is scheduled to open in early 2023.

The landlord’s initial redevelopment proposal for the 1045 sqm site sought to build 95 suites.

Directed by Lincoln Minerals director James Tenghui Zhang, APH is intending to build about 3000 hotel rooms over the next decade.

In Box Hill – about seven kilometres east of Hawthorn – it has earmarked a 20-level inn with over 250 five-star rated units (artist’s impression, top) at 925 Whitehorse Rd.

That property, which it is speculated Accor will also occupy, will replace an ex-Blockbuster Video store acquired for $13m in 2019.

Busy quarter for hotel commitments

Eight weeks ago David Kobritz’s Deal Corp unveiled plans for a seven floor, 127-key inn at Rose St, Fitzroy.

Set to trade as The Standard, which also operates in London, the Maldives, and in the United States, where the brand is headquartered, at Los Angeles, Miami and New York, it is scheduled to open in 2023.

In St Kilda, Gurner earlier this year unveiled its hospitality brand, Club Maison, with a complex to replace the ex-Cushion Lounge at 95-105 Fitzroy St.

On the same road (#33-35), Erdi Group is intending to extend its Rydges guesthouse by two floors – then rename it QT.
