Amazon permitted to build $2.3b data centre
Amazon has cleared the final planning hurdles for a massive $2.3 billion data centre campus in Sydney’s west.
The approval will see a five-storey, 50,233 square metre facility rise at 2 Glendenning Road, Glendenning, replacing three warehouses with a total 21,851 sqm.
The project is considered one of the state’s largest single digital infrastructure investments.
Also this week, realestatesource.com.au reported Goodman Group was approved for a $1.4b data centre at Macquarie Park.
In Queensland meanwhile, Anthropic pre-committed to the first stage of a proposed $32b data centre campus near Dalby being delivered by Zerra backed by Dexus and Macquarie.
GFA surges 130 per cent
Amazon paid AMP Capital $181 million for the 10.4-hectare Glendenning Rd site at the north-east corner of Woodstock Avenue in late 2022 (continues below).
The proposed complex will contain three interconnected components.
Designed to scale Amazon Web Services’ cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure, the power capacity will be 202.4 megawatts.
Glendenning is about six kilometres north-west of Blacktown.
It is 43km from the CBD.
