Green light for $1.4b Sydney data centre
Goodman Group has been given the green light to replace a suburban Sydney office with a 135-megawatt data centre.
Project Apollo, as it has been dubbed, set for 4-10 Talavera Road, Macquarie Park, carries an end value of c$1.4 billion.
With eight halls, the 28,878 square metre complex will incorporate evaporative cooling towers, grid power, diesel backup generation and lithium-ion batteries.
It will replace the Talavera Business Park, with a three and five level office across 1.03ha also exposed to Lane Cove Rd and the M2.
Goodman has five Sydney data centre projects in its pipeline including at Guildford West (for 126MW), Mascot (90MW), Cove West (90MW) and the former ABC studios at Artarmon (80MW).
With Project Apollo, the capacity is 521MW.
Another data centre deal
Goodman had applied to build a slightly larger project, with 30,931 sqm (continues below).
Also this week it was confirmed Anthropic pre-committed to part of the first stage of the $32b Western Downs Digital Park near Dalby in Queensland.
That project will contain 2.16-gigawatt peak capacity.
The lease is subject to Foreign Investment Review Board and planning approval.
In July realestatesource.com.au reported Macquarie Technology Group outlaid $240m for a 3.4ha site in Talavera Rd, Macquarie Park, with plans for a 200MW complex.
The end value of that project has been put at c$3b.
Macquarie Park is about 15 kilometres north west of the CBD.
