CDC Data Centres lines up regional NSW campus
CDC Data Centres has applied to build a $15 billion hyperscale data centre campus across 103.8 hectares, 11 kilometres south of Wagga Wagga.
With four single-level buildings, the Gregadoo complex would contain about 189,325 square metres and total power demand of up to 1.4 gigawatts.
It would replace a grazing farm (pictured, top) zoned RU1 Primary Production.
Council has been the registered owner since May.
The application is now entering the NSW State Significant Development planning process.
Last week, realestatesource.com.au reported Amazon was permitted to build a $2.3b data centre in Sydney’s Glendenning.
Goodman was also given the green light for a $1.4b asset of this type at Macquarie Park.
CDC is also planning a data centre campus at Marsden Park, with a 504-megawatt capacity.
Another NSW data centre
The Gregadoo property, 216 Ashfords Road, contains a dwelling, outbuildings and 12 dams.

The campus, earmarked for 63.4ha, and to be developed in stasges, will connect to the existing high-voltage network through a 330kV Transgrid substation about 1.3km north of the boundary.
The proposed infrastructure includes two on-site substations, electrical yards, a static synchronous compensator and up to 384 diesel generators for backup power.
A rooftop solar array of about 20,160 panels is also proposed, with capacity of about 13.1MWp.
CDC has held discussions with Riverina Water about extending a DN300 water main near Lake Albert Fire Station, about 2.6km away.
A reticulated sewer network connection isn’t feasible because of the distance, according to Wagga Wagga City Council.
An on-site wastewater solution is instead proposed.
A cooling method hasn’t – CDC saying it is assessing evaporative and mechanical options which won’t primarily use local water supply.
Wagga Wagga is about 450km south-west of Sydney.
