WOTSO leases ex-WeWork office

WOTSO has signed a major North Sydney lease.

WOTSO bought its Cremorne base in 2021.

The flexible workspace provider has taken 2100 square metres at 50 Miller Street, owned since 2022 by Sun Venture.

Including a ground floor component, the area was formerly occupied by failed provider WeWork.

It is the third site WOTSO has announced globally this year, chief executive officer Jessie Glew said, and the 33rd in the company’s Australia and New Zealand network.

Few changes to the tenancy are required.

The agreement kicks in April 1.

“We’ve had such success with that retail shopfront strategy,” Ms Glew said.

“At Cremorne, for example, we get so many walk-ins, people interacting and engaging with the space at street level,” according to the executive.

“We want to do the same thing at North Sydney…put the co-working on the ground floor with some breakout space to create street engagement for people to look in and want to know what’s going on,” she added (story continues below).

In with the old

Sun Venture head of Real Estate, Yueh Pyng Chiang, said the group repurposed the ex-WeWork space as Millers Workspaces – again a co-work venture.

“The time is now ripe for a transition to WOTSO, a seasoned, homegrown flexspace operator with strength in both experience and scale,” he added.

“WOTSO not only presents 50 Miller St with a differentiating edge, our existing and new flexspace members will also benefit from the coveted WOTSO Passport Program,” according to the executive.

“Through WOTSO’s Passport Program, once you are a member of one site, you are a member of all sites, giving members maximum flexibility to access multiple locations with a single membership”.

The other ANZ WOTSO announced this year are in Kogarah, in southern Sydney, and Whangārei, on New Zealand’s North Island.

“At Kogarah, WOTSO is partnering with landlord Kogarah RSL on a 600sqm commercial space in a significant mixed-use building, close to two train stations,” a spokesperson said.
