Wadhawan Group’s Construction Company, DEC, Arrives in Melbourne

A spokeswoman for the developer said Premier John Brumby will advise them on Monday November 2, about whether he will attend the launch, which falls on one of Parliament’s six confirmed sitting days this month.

Mr Wadhawan made headlines last year, when a whirlwind $57 million spending spree saw him acquire major development sites at City Road Southbank, Beaconsfield Parade, Middle Park and Darling Street South Yarra, next door to the iconic Beverley Hills building, and famous rear garden and pool.

DEC recently announced it would develop a $500 million village of apartment towers, offices, shops and a hotel, on its City Road site – once owned by second hand car dealer Izzy Herzog.

Chairman Kapil Wadhawan told The Age last year the Mumbai-based company planned to introduce its other Indian businesses to Australia, such as beverages, education interests, food, groceries and housing finance.
