RMIT Fine Art Students Contribute to Fitzroy Warehouse Project

Domain Hill Property Group commissioned the university students to design 55 fine art pieces, using various media. Twenty chosen pieces of art will be on permanent exhibition at the development, named Smith Street Lofts.

Among the art pieces, many of which include inspiring quotes, is a giant Winston Churchill portrait urging people to "Never, never, never give up" and D.H.Lawrence’s words, "I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself", etched around a painting of an injured owl.

The flexible zoning of the development means units can be occupied as pure residential, pure office, or a combination of both. The lofts are all about the same size – between 135 and 145 square metres – and include two or three undercover car parks. Lofts start at $585,000, rising to $625,000 to buy, or for around $40,000 per annum to lease. Hocking Stuart and Vision Real Estate are marketing the units.
