Operator buys train station turned restaurant
The Big Easy Group has bought a heritage protected train station turned restaurant listed last year for sale or lease.
Trading on a walk-in, walk-out basis with plant, equipment and hospitality licences, the ex-Bowden station at 21 First Street, Hindmarsh, contains a 194 square metre c1856 bluestone building extending to a 51 sqm alfresco deck.
The venue, last trading as The Loose Caboose, is licensed for 70 customers.
The site spreads 483 sqm with parking.
The address is walking distance to the Bowden Village redevelopment and Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
Established in Adelaide in 2015, The Big Easy Group is led by Oliver Brown, Joshua Talbot, Matthew Orman and Alex Marshall.
Its venues include NOLA Adelaide, Anchovy Bandit, Bottega Bandito, Bowden Brewing, La Louisiane and Tarantino’s.
In mid-2024 realestatesource.com.au reported coffee house operator and publican Julien Moussi bought a vacant two storey c1860 building, once the first class passenger lounge for neighbouring South Yarra station (continues below).

Business as usual
Bowden at 21 First St was one of the city’s earliest depots, developed along the first line connecting the CBD to Port Adelaide.
The Big Easy Group is expected to continue the site’s hospitality use, with the Urban Neighbourhood zoning supporting a range of commercial outcomes including food and beverage, boutique accommodation and other adaptive re-use opportunities, subject to approvals.
Cushman & Wakefield’s Jack Dascombe and Adam Hartley were the agents.
Hindmarsh is three kilometres west of the city.
