Marina Berths at Docklands a Sales Success

Solomon Lew stores his enormous Texas boat there too.

City marina berths – not really something Melburnian’s considered as an investment given the CBD is 3 kilometres inland – have suddenly become hot property, thanks to the $7 billion Docklands redevelopment.

Sam Newman, Lindsay Fox and John Gandel are all reported to own one.

Mirvac has just listed for sale a 15 metre berth at its Yarra’s Edge precinct it expects to sell for around $300,000.

At this price, it’s probably the best performing property asset in Docklands – seeing the vendor paid just $150,000 for the berth 12 months ago, a Mirvac spokeswoman said.

For an average berth however, a mere $140,000 should do – but Mirvac warns buyers to paddle fast for this one – two thirds of 155 berths it has released are sold.
