Regus Takes Over Serviced Offices at Como, South Yarra

Regus Australia general manager Ian Wheeler says the company’s serviced office business has more than doubled in the past 12 months, and that it is actively looking for more office space in metropolitan Melbourne and Sydney this year.

Pre-committing to an undeveloped building in the city or suburbs is an option, he said.

Serviced office operators effectively rent, fit out, then sub-let office suites to tenants at a premium rent. These tenants can stay for as little as a few days, and are offered boardroom and meeting facilities, and administration staff services at an extra charge.

Large companies like Nokia, and Telstra, have been known to use serviced offices around the world, when the number of staff working in that office is small.

Mr Wheeler said Regus has been keen to break into the South Yarra area for some time.

Channel Ten has used Como as studios for more than ten years. Musicians to perform for The Panel TV show, which was filmed in the same Como studio as Bert Newton’s Good Morning Australia, include Midnight Oil, REM, Brian Cadd and Glenn Shorrock.
