Madden to Decide on Maffra Shortly

The supermarket complex would be developed around the facade of the historic red-brick Metropolitan Hotel and close road traffic to Purdy Lane, in Maffra’s Central Activity District.

Mr Madden took control of the Maffra proposal from the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal last month, which was reviewing an appeal lodged by supermarket developer Ritchie’s IGA, to close Purdy Lane. This road dissects the site of the proposed new supermarket.

Meanwhile in Pakenham, Woolworths has paid the Cardinia Shire Council about $8 million for a prominent 2.9 hectare site bordered by John and Henry streets, Cook Drive and Treloar Lane, which will make way for an $80 million shopping centre.
