Lindsay Thomas sells Melbourne home after auction
Former AFL player Lindsay Thomas and his wife, Hannah, sold their Melbourne home after auction, for $745,000.
The price for 45 Rutherglen Crescent, Gowanbrae, was $65,000 more than it passed in at, on a vendor bid last month.
It is also $15,000 more than the reserve revealed on auction day.
Thomas, 31, now lives in South Australia and plays for Adelaide football club Portland.
His young family called Gowanbrae home during parts of his career playing for North Melbourne, between 2007 and 2017. The forward kicked 53 goals in 2013.
Thomas played for Port Adelaide in 2018 before retiring from the AFL.
Alexkarbon director Charles Bongiovanni told news.com.au, which first reported the Gownabrae sale in this item, that two potential new buyers emerged for the home following the auction and bid against each other.
These negotiations started at $730,000.
The double-storey brick home occupies a 577 square metre block in one of Melbourne’s newest suburbs, between Strathmore Heights and Tullamarine, about 13 kilometres north-west of the city.
It includes three bedrooms, an upstairs retreat, two lounge areas, a double garage, undercover outdoor entertainment area and a shed at the back of a sizeable backyard.
Thomas paid $455,000 for the then five-year-old home in 2009.
