Lawson Park Hotel, Regent Theatre sold

Lawson Park Hotel and the neighbouring Regent Theatre at Mudgee, 240 kilometres north west of Sydney, have sold to separate buyers.
The freehold going concern for the pub, developed in 1860, returning $100,000 per week across the bar, bistro and gaming (there are 15 electronic gambling machine entitlements), is trading to Ash Lyon’s Lion Majestic Group.
On 1831 square metres at 1-3 Church Street, a refurbishment is planned, set to retain historic features.
The executive recently renovated Bathurst’s Oxford Hotel, held more than 20 years.
Dormant theatre to reopen
Meanwhile the neighbouring, long-dormant Regent Theatre, sold to Alan Kerr and business associate Mark Hoddinott, under a company, Mudgee Heritage Investments Pty Ltd.
On 1218 sqm at 5 Church St, the property was developed in 1935, penned by Georg Newtown Kenworthy – also behind Cremorne’s Orpheum Picture Palace and, at Port Macquarie, the Ritz Theatre.
It was state heritage listed five years ago.
It has been vacant over two decades.
Mr Kerr and Mr Hoddinott plan to restore the building as a hospitality venue, with live performance space, conference zones and community facilities, as well as the cinemas.
Leonard Bongiovanni, Director of MQ & Associates listed both sites for one vendor in September.
The two properties were the subject of apartment-based redevelopments years ago.
Also today we are reporting the Feros family’s JDA Group bought an Albury’s hotel from Harvest Hospitality Group, for $27 million.
