Door giant to consolidate in Melbourne

The 5870 square metre Jamieson Way facility will be extended.

Dormakaba Australia will consolidate three business units – Ezi Roll Doors Australia, Danmar Garage Doors and Gilderol Garage Doors – to a new location, at Dandenong South.

The arm of Switzerland based Dormakaba committed to 23 Jamieson Way following an off-market deal.

On 1.41 hectares off Taylors Road, the property contains a 5870 square metre office/warehouse.

As part of the agreement, the improvement will be extended 1000 sqm. Power infrastructure will also be upgraded while a 5-tonne overhead crane will be installed.

Colliers’ Sam Hibbins and Gordon Code were the agents. Hamish Troon of the agency’s Occupier Services arm represented the tenant.

Relocations planned

Danmar and Gilderol won’t move far – from 10 and 94-97 Micro Circuit, Dandenong South, respectively.

Ezi Roll is presently based at Somerton, north of Melbourne.

Mr Troon said a flexible landlord prepared to extend the warehouse made the Jamieson Wy deal viable for Dormakoba, which was looking to stay long term.

“Dormakoba needed a site that could support the integration of three distinct business units into one cohesive manufacturing and distribution hub with the south east of Melbourne being key to the business,” according to the executive.

The occupier’s head of Property, Tania Adams, said the facility will enable it to integrate manufacturing and distribution functions.

“The property’s features and location will support our growth  ambitions and enhance our operational efficiency across Australia,” she added.

Dormakoba, which turns 45 this year, trades out of 50 countries, employing about 15,000 people.
