Queens Rd mansion earmarked for luxury apartments
Heritage listed mansion turned sex-on-premises club The Mansion, at the fork where Queens Road becomes Dandenong Rd, has sold to a developer which plans to convert it into six luxury apartments.
The sale comes seven years after a consortium led by ex-St Kilda Football Club director John Gdanski moved the dwelling within the site, allowing an 18-level residential tower to be constructed over it.
The home was built in the 1880s for financier Laurence Benjamin.
It was converted into a bar in the early 1990s, requiring the removal of walls.
The nightclub closed in 1998.
