Ex-Public Transport Union HQ sells

The Sussex Street property was once earmarked for a 15 level building.

The city’s ex-Public Transport Union headquarters in Chinatown has sold.

The building contains office and retail space and five car parks.

Nowadays a boutique office known as LM House, 333-337 Sussex Street collected $12.25 million.

Developers were targeted as well as investors – the 243 square metre site is exposed to James Lane to two sides.

In the late 1990s, property developer sought to replace the land with a 15 level tower with 22 apartments.

The three storey asset is also straightforward passive investment, with a 15 sqm ground floor retail tenancy and five basement car parks.

The building is serviced by a lift.

Sydney Residential Metro’s Bernard Tsang and Wilson Diec brokered the deal (continues below).

The agency is also headquartered there.

The property last sold in 2012 for $4.85m.

It also sold in early 2002, shortly after the September 11 terrorist attacks, for $4.05m.

Elsewhere in the pocket, developer Anson Group in 2022 paid $50m for the building which for three decades accommodated the Golden Century restaurant, at 393-399 Sussex St.
