Eddie McGuire spends close to $12m on Toorak home
Channel Nine’s recently retired chief executive Eddie McGuire is spending close to $12m on a contemporary Toorak family home.
The former sports journalist has called Sydney home for 15 months.
The Melbourne dwelling, which according to reports is in a court off St Georges Road, sits on a large block with a tennis court, pool and several gardens.
It was offloaded by Applied Chemicals executive Ian Hicks and will be registered in the name of Eddie’s wife, Carla.
Prominent commercial property developer David Deague built it more than ten years ago.
The McGuire family will upgrade from a Dunraven Ave home – also in a revered Toorak pocket but on a smaller parcel (story continues below).
Eddie McGuire’s outgoing Dunraven Avenue properties
The Dunraven Ave holding includes a double storey dwelling built on a parcel acquired for $1.275m in October, 1996. Part of this home was destroyed by fire five years later.
The executive also owns an older property next door, utilised as an investment but which it was speculated could make way for a tennis court.
Both assets in that street are now expected to be sold.
Mr McGuire announced his resignation as chief executive officer last May.
