Docklands Southern Star Oberservation Wheel Buckles After a Month

Southern Star Management Group chairman Fred Maybury told radio station 3AW metal had buckled and cracked, on the 120 metre tall wheel, a highly advertised new tourist attraction, important for bringing people to the Waterfront City precinct.

He said the company has sought international advice on how to fix the tourist attraction and why it had succumbed to excessive heat.

Melbourne underwent one of its longest heatwaves last week, recording three consecutive days over 43, and an almost record new high of over 45 degrees.
