Developer buys ex-Camden Livestock Selling Centre
It is the end of an era in Camden with Revelop swooping on the town’s Livestock Selling Centre – outlaying $4.55 million.
The 2.82 hectare parcel – the largest single landholding in the town – came with plans for a two level, 15,000 square metre retail based mixed-use complex, also with hospitality, a health/wellness component, childcare and event spaces.
Covering 30-34 Edward Street, also exposed to Argyle, there’ll also be underground parking.
The distinctive octagon shaped building where livestock was traded is expected to be retained.
Revelop co-chief executive officer Anthony El-Hazouri added he is aiming for two supermarket anchors, at least one which will offer large format retail liquor.
The deal comes five months since we reported Revelop bought an 8616 square metre piece of the ex-Port Kembla Golf Club, in Primbee, with plans for a convenience-based retail investment anchored to McDonald’s.
Revelop invests again
The Camden Livestock Selling Centre on Edward St opened in 1940 replacing a facility established in 1889.
That developer and occupier, William Inglis & Sons, offloaded the business to Jim Hindmarsh & Sons in 2013.
Five years later it divested the real estate to Coronam Holdings, for $3.6m.

Coronam sold it to Revelop after a public marketing campaign launched February – two months before the tenant shut shop.
“Due to the uncertain future ownership and current leases being up for renewal we have had to make this difficult decision,” a spokesperson for the occupier said at the time.
Operations will be relocated to facilities at Moss Vale and Yass, they added.
Inglis Property Macarthur’s Anthony Rees was the agent.
Camden is about 60 kilometres south west of Sydney’s CBD.
