Cricketer Michael Hill (pictured, right) is selling an oversized one bedroom apartment built into converted c1889 mansion Thalassa, in Elwood’s esteemed Golden Mile.

Mr Hill retains 10/17 Byrne Avenue as an investment – it recently leased for $420 per week.

The sportsman paid $498,000 for it in 2013.

It is expected to sell for between $550,000 and $600,000 this time around.

Pride Real Estate director and marketing agents Charlie Clemons has the listing with colleague, Bernie Vince – a former AFL footballer, for Melbourne, now broker.

The apartment goes to auction on Saturday, August 24.

The agents are promoting the apartment’s original floorboards, high ceilings, oversized living room  with marble fireplace and bay window, underground cellar or storage space, and car park.

Thalassa was split into apartments some years ago.

The subdivision retained the mansion’s grand entrance hall.

The mansion is also surrounded by a landscaped garden and an occupant-only courtyard.

Mr Clemons told realestate.com.au in this item that the location of 17 Byrne Street, is less than 100 metres from the water. The Ormond Road retail village is also walking distance.

The apartment is expected to sell for between $550,000 and $600,000.
