Camberwell Junction’s Former Henley Honda Site to be Developed Within Months
FKP had to seek VCAT approval to pass the amendments.
The developer said it is now waiting for the Boroondara City Council to endorse the VCAT approved plans before marketing apartments, offices and retail space. Council could endorse the project this month, sources speculate.
The Henley Honda site will make way for two 9-level apartment buildings containing 144 units – up from 106 apartments proposed by FKP last year. The Aerial development will be flanked by ground floor retail, and will also include a 14-level office building.
FKP isn’t the only developer to boost proposed apartment numbers within major projects recently.
Sydney-based developer Stockland – which holds an approximate 15 per cent interest in FKP – will build 40 more apartments into the first stage of its Tooronga Village development at Glen Iris than originally planned.
In Carlton, Grocon has upped the number of apartments it planned to develop on its former Carlton & United Brewery on the CBD fringe. Grocon had planned to build 300 to 400 units on the site, but will now replace proposed office buildings with apartments, bringing the expected total to about 1000.
