Auto accessories giant leases another Melbourne warehouse

Automotive parts, accessories and equipment distributor GPC Asia Pacific has leased a new office/warehouse for the Auto Parts Group business it bought last September.

LOGOS and Ivanhoé Cambridge secured GPC to a Broadmeadows estate in 2023.

The group has committed to an 11,345 square metre speculative building due for completion next month at Dandenong South’s Rubix Connect estate.

With the deal, landlord Frasers Property Industrial has filled the business park, with over 150,000 sqm across 41.3 hectares, launched in August, 2020, during the COVID lockdown.

Ozito was the first group to commit – for 19,815 sqm and 97 car parks.

It was later joined by, amongst others, Décor, Fletcher Building, IVE Group, Freedom Furniture, Nolan Group and Penguin Random House.

In April we reported SJ Display Group committed to 5465 sqm – also developed speculatively.

GPC grows north, west and south

GPC Asia Pacific is backed by the US-based Genuine Parts Company, with 10,700 locations in 17 countries.

The Rubix Connect deal comes 12 months since the group leased within a Tottenham estate, west of Melbourne, being developed by Centennial.

That deal was for a 4416 sqm office, warehouse and showroom, for an initial five years.

Four years ago meanwhile, the group committed to a landmark 39,000 sqm distribution centre at Broadmeadows, owned by LOGOS and Canada’s Ivanhoé Cambridge.

Auto Parts Group, established by Stephen Campbell in 1994, is presently headquartered in Melbourne at Clayton.

Dandenong South is 31 kilometres south east of town.
