Adairs chooses Chadstone for HQ
Adairs will relocate its headquarters to Chadstone Shopping Centre, quitting Scoresby, 13 kilometres further east of town.
The homewares retailer is taking 5500 square metres – or just over a quarter of the 20,000 sqm, nine level, A-grade building, which is due for completion in 2024.
Another business is understood to have committed to 4500 sqm of the asset, 1 Middle Road, or Building 3 of the complex.
Colliers’ Rob Joyes and Travis Myerscough are the agents.
Their deal comes a year since Officeworks signed a 10 year lease for the low-rise, 8000 sqm office known as Building 2, Chadstone Place, filling spaces quit by JB Hi Fi and Retail Zoo.
Like Adairs, the stationery chain will upgrade from more modest accommodation further from town – Bentleigh East, five kilometres away.
More vibrant addresses
The Adairs rent isn’t disclosed (story continues below).
Its tenancy will include a studio.
The building, also with a business lounge, end of trip facilities and 600 sqm sky garden, is part of a $685m centre extension adding essential services components – childcare, healthcare – and an entertainment precinct.
It will create 1400 car parks too.
Chadstone is owned by Gandel Group and Vicinity Centres.
Colliers Occupier Services’ Tim Farley and Mitch Bolger acted for Officeworks.
Adairs will relocate from the Spooner family’s Caribbean Business Park.
