Advertising boss sells Toorak mansion

Melbourne’s prestige residential market seems to be going from strength to strength, with the sale yesterday of 774 Orrong Road in Toorak for $7.8 million – well over expectation.

An as-yet undisclosed business identity is the buyer.

With a tennis court, pool, spa and landscaped garden, the historic five bedroom home contains six living areas.

The vendor was Clemenger Communications director Hylton Mackley and his wife Eileen who paid $1.4m 20 years ago.

In a leafy part of the road, it is near the mansion John Elliott famously sold for $11.3m in 2003 without telling his now ex-wife.

“The [774 Orrong Rd] property is one of the most complete and well balanced large family homes to be put on the market in the last six months,” Kay & Burton’s Andrew Baines said.

“A lot of people who inquired on the property said that they have admired the home for years”.
