Cathy Freeman May Rent Out Brighton Home She Just Bought

Insiders say the French provincial-style Roslyn Street home may be either leased, or resold, just six months after she paid an estimated $2.2 million for it before auction.

If she on-sells, it would be Freeman’s second major property transaction since September. Her previous home, a contemporary mansion overlooking the Yarra River in Yarravale Road Kew sold last year for around $1.5 million. She paid $980,000 for it seven years earlier.

According to one insider, Cathy, 34, may be selling the Brighton home in preparation for a move to her home state of Queensland, however this could not be confirmed. The health of the prestige residential market, which has become even more competitive since Cathy bought, could mean she pockets a nifty profit even in the short period she’s owned it.

Other agents tip Cathy will lease the property – giving her the freedom to give things a go in Queensland, and return to Melbourne should she ever need a dose of class.
