Schiavello fills up more of M-City

The myHomeCare Group has taken the top floor of M-City’s office tower.

Schiavello Group has secured another tenant at its recently completed M-City, in Melbourne’s south east Clayton.

Woolworths opened at M-City just before the 2020 lockdown.

The myHomeCare Group – which aims to provide nursing and other support so that the elderly can stay living in their homes – has committed to 1753 square metres, for an undisclosed rent and period.

It is the first Victorian office for the Sydney group, which in New South Wales has bases in the Central Coast, Coffs Harbour, Hunter Valley and Port Macquarie.

M-City, at 2017-2125 Princes Highway, on the north east corner of Blackburn Road, replaced the single-storey Monash Homemaker Centre, which was razed in 2017.

The complex was completed toward the start of the national lockdown, which was followed by a particularly sluggish 18 months in office leasing.

Worst timing

With apartments, a hotel, office building, essential services (childcare, gym, medical centre) and retail – including a Woolworths, Kmart and Village Cinema – M-City also contains over 1000 car parks charged to commercial tenants at $150 per month (story continues below).

Officeworks last year leased the Chadstone office vacated by Janine Allis’ Retail Zoo.

“The long-term commitment from The myHomeCare Group is the latest group…takes the office tower to 80 per cent leased,” CBRE’s Anthony Park and Gianni Macdonald, who brokered the deal, said.

Other occupiers include Sigma Healthcare (for 5238 sqm) and ReadyTech Holdings subsidiary Open Office (1150 sqm).

Janine Allis’ Retail Zoo also moved in – like The myHomeCare Group, taking a (1746 sqm) full-floor.

That group’s former headquarters, meanwhile, at Chadstone, was late last year taken up by Wesfarmers’ Officeworks, which relocated from Bentleigh East.
