Results of Renters Survey Suggests More Flexibility Required

Rent.com.au chief executive Mark Woschnak said more than half of its respondents were renting because they could not afford a house. He said 28 per cent of the population rents.

He said over time there will be greater pressure on landlords to provide homes for singles, couples and families, rather than just bricks and mortar. He added landlords need to better maintain properties, especially if they continue to push through rent increases, for reasons which are often inadequate.
