Prominent Pubs, and a Western Suburbs Development Site, Offered in $80 Million Portfolio

SOME of Melbourne’s most popular hospitality venues – and a major western suburb development site – form part of an $80 million portfolio of properties set to hit the market next month.

A consortium of Melbourne-based private investors, including Sebastian Catalfamo and Gilbert Cabral, will share in the spoils of the eight properties which are being offered separately.

In Melbourne, hospitality venues include The Point on Albert Park Lake – a 940-seat venue which is expected to sell for about $3 million.

Coles, Toll Issue Major Industrial Lease Requirements, Melbourne

TWO of Australia’s largest conglomerates have quietly circulated industrial leasing requirements seeking new, supersized Melbourne factories.

In the biggest tenancy request, the Wesfarmers owned Coles Group, from Perth, is looking for a purpose built office warehouse of close to 80,000 square metres – or almost the same size as the Rialto towers, by floor area.

Coles, which last month reported more than triple the quarterly sales growth of rival, Woolworths, will consider sites all over metropolitan Melbourne for its new major distribution centre.

Stockland Starts Building Craigieburn Shopping Centre

Stockland ToorongaHAVING opened the Stockland Tooronga Shopping Centre in Glen Iris on Thursday, Sydney-based developer Stockland has bought forward plans to build a $40 million, 7087 square metre complex in Melbourne’s outer north.

Preparatory construction work has started for two Craigieburn developments: the Stockland Highlands Shopping Centre at Bridgehaven Village, and another complex, The Corner Store, off Waterview Boulevard.

Stockland Highlands will open in the middle of next year and include 22 speciality shops and a piazza style town square.

Toyota to Build Vehicle Testing Track in Altona

MELBOURNE’s western suburbs may be notorious for its hoon drivers – but for at least one tract of privately owned land in Altona North, thrashing a car may soon be encouraged.

Japan-based car manufacturer Toyota has lodged an application with the Hobsons Bay City Council to convert a massive 19.7 parcel of land at 304 – 388 Grieve Parade into a new vehicle testing track.

The site would be used by Toyota engineers and staff to test the performance of motor vehicles manufactured at the Altona plant – including the new green Hybrid Camry.

Owner Occupiers Spend $15 Million on Altona Properties

VIKING Transport has paid $12 million for a 10-hectare industrial facility in Melbourne’s west.

The purchase, of 441 – 459 Kororoit Creek Road will be the fourth owner-occupied site in the area for the transport and logistics group.

Knight Frank selling agents Matt Crofts and Andrew Macqueen said that with industrial vacancy rates levelling at about 4 per cent during the economic downturn, demand from both tenants and investors has been strong.

Booth Transport, Toll, Contribute to Major Industrial Lease Deals, Melbourne

DEMAND for industrial space in Melbourne is continuing, with a string of major lease deals announced in recent weeks.

Brillian Aluminium has leased a 24,800 square metre facility at 61 Australis Drive, Derrimut in Melbourne’s west, where it is believed to be paying a rent of about $55 per square metre.

Booth Transport is believed to have leased about 20,000 square metres in Salta Drive, Altona North, while TTL Holdings has leased a 12,800 square metre facility of three warehouses in nearby Geelong Road.
