NRL circles $100m Sydney hotel
The National Rugby League is understood to be weighing another significant property acquisition.
The code is undertaking due diligence on the 271-room Novotel Sydney International Airport at Wolli Creek- for c$100 million.
Accor operates the hotel at 22 Levey Street.
Facilities include The Marke Kitchen, The Marke Bar, a gym, outdoor swimming pool, crew lounge and 11 meeting and conference spaces.
There are also 129 car parks.
CBRE’s Michael Simpson, Andrew Williams and Nick Hill were the agents.
NRL builds portfolio
The proposed acquisition would continue an investment strategy that has seen the Australian Rugby League Commission become an active buyer of income-producing real estate over the past two years.
Recent NSW purchases include the Quest Woolooware Bay in Sydney’s south and Ibis Styles Port Macquarie (continues below).

In Queensland, it has snapped up Brisbane’s Beetson Hotel, formerly the Gambaro Hotel, and Mantra Terrace, and the Mercure Sunshine Coast Kawana Waters.
ARLC chairman Peter V’landys has previously said the organisation is seeking to build a $1 billion investment portfolio to diversify its income streams beyond broadcasting revenue. The latest move follows the NRL’s recently announced $5.3 billion broadcast agreement, which provides long-term revenue certainty.
The Novotel is a kilometre from Sydney International Airport near arterial road networks including the M5, M8 WestConnex and Princes Highway.
The CBD is about 15 minutes away by train.
“The Novotel Sydney International Airport is a true institutional‑grade asset, offering scale, flexibility and long‑term strategic positioning within Australia’s busiest airport precinct,” Mr Simpson said upon listing.
“The availability of vacant possession of management provides incoming investors with genuine optionality whether continuing with Accor, pursuing a rebranding strategy, engaging an alternative operator or adopting an owner‑operator model,” he added.
