The operators of Essendon Fields, owned by billionaire Lindsay Fox and Max Beck, replacing land around Essendon Airport, are readying to develop a prominent 30 hectare piece.

Global Avenue – Hart Precinct – already including some small light industrial buildings – at the north east corner of the 305ha master-planned commercial project, is earmarked for much more significant development, with buildings between 3500-20,000 square metres depending on pre-commitment.

Manufacturing and logistics businesses will be targeted, the landlord said.

Delivery times will be fast-tracked, it added, to between 9-12 months.

New roads, a retarding basin and a community park will also form part of the pocket, named after aviation pioneer James “Bob”Hart.

In February we reported Textron would double its Essendon Fields footprint.

Essendon Fields (the management entity) will manage the redevelopment, expected to take shape in stages.

Recently completed buildings accommodate Autex Acoustics, Dutton Wholesale, Elenium Automation, Leonardo Helicopters (which supplies the Police and Ambulance airwings) and Green by Nature.

An arm of Mr Fox’s Linfox is also based there.

The pocket of Essendon Fields, at the Strathmore border, is about 12 kilometres north of Melbourne’s CBD.
