Lend Lease’s The Gauge Building, Docklands, Wins Sustainability Awards
Funded and owned by the Lend Lease managed APPF Commercial, The Gauge is the first building in Australia to achieve a 6 Star Green Star Office As Built v2 Certified rating from the Green Building Council of Australia, as well as a 6 Star Green Star – Office Design Certified Rating.
The Premier’s Sustainability Award win is the latest accolade for The Gauge and is further recognition of its position as the yardstick – or gauge – of environmental performance for commercial buildings in the Australian marketplace.
Lend Lease Development General Manager, Maurice Cococcia said The Gauge is the result of innovative, cutting edge design and represents an evolution of the knowledge and systems that Lend Lease has successfully delivered for other groundbreaking developments like 30 The Bond in Sydney.
“Not only does The Gauge shine a light on the quality of our commercial projects and what can be achieved environmentally at a competitive cost, it demonstrates the progress the property industry has made towards becoming more sustainable,” Mr Cococcia said.
“It effectively draws a new line in the sand in terms of achieving the highest level of environmental performance without compromising commercial viability.”
The winners of the Premier’s Sustainability Awards for 2009 were announced last night at a ceremony at the Palladium at Crown hosted by TV personality Rove McManus. The awards recognise Victorian businesses, groups and individuals that are committed to reducing their
carbon footprint and resource use.
This year the awards had a particular focus on innovation as a key driver of sustainability, an approach Lend Lease has steadfastly taken to reduce its impact on the environment.
