Lake Illawarra Hotel trades locally

Five Islands Hotel, in Wollongong, recently sold for $20.7 million.

The Hampton family has sold Windang’s Lake Illawarra Hotel after 36 years.

At 198 Windang Road, the former Tooth’s brewery is trading to an operator with another venue in the area for a speculated $12 million.

The recently renovated space contains 16 electronic gambling machines.

Part of the 6038 square metre site – zoned Special Purpose Tourist – can be developed immediately.

“With the hotel being one of the last mid-market Illawarra trading opportunities, the [vendor] had received numerous unsolicited offers…over the last 24 months,” HTL Property’s Dan Dragicevich, who marketed the asset with Sam Handy, said.

“The Lake Illawarra Hotel offers an incoming operator a veritable blank canvas upon which to reposition the business with a more modern and family-friendly offering,” he added (story continues below).

The pub is licensed until midnight.

Windang is about 15 kilometres south of Wollongong where in June the Ludlow Group paid $20.7m for the Five Islands Hotel.

That vendor, Bill and Mario Gravanis’ Oscars Hotels, paid $1.1m in 2017 before renovating.
