Heart Foundation Leases at Kador’s 500 Collin Street Green Building
The Foundation will lease levels 12 and 13 of the 28-level tower, the only refurbished building in the Melbourne CBD to obtain a 5-star Green Star rating from the Green Council of Australia.
“It was our aim to secure a tenancy with a focus on wellness and greenstar issues,” said Heart Foundation (Victoria) chief executive officer Kathy Bell. “Wellness is an interactive process of becoming aware of and practicing healthy choices to create a more successful and balanced lifestyle.”
“This is very important to the new generation of workers.”
According to Colliers International corporate services director Peter Walsh, who acted for the Heart Foundation, its decision was based on value for money, building quality and the building’s close proximity to public transport which provided easy access for staff, volunteers and donors.
CB Richard Ellis director John Furniss represented the building owner.
The Heart Foundation is not the first charity to sell its headquarters and move into rented accommodation. The Salvation Army recently put its Mont Albert headquarters on the market, after leasing a new building in nearby Blackburn.
