Surf Dive ‘n Ski founder lists enormous Melbourne pile

6 Marne Street cost Fadil Sadikay $10.5 million in 2019.

Surf Dive ‘n Ski founder Fadil ‘Butch’ Sadikay has listed neighbouring inner-city sites permit-ready for an apartment project.

Three units are in 8-10 Marne Street.

The 1770 square metre offering, 6-10 Marne Street, in South Yarra’s exclusive Domain precinct, carries $29-$31 million price hopes.

The retailer turned developer outlaid over $15m in separate deals in 2019 and 2021.

Number 6, inter-war style, developed in 1940 – contains four large apartments.

It cost $10.5m five years ago.

Number 8-10, built in 1930, with Art Deco cues, has three units (story continues below).

The South Yarra sites (outlined) are expected to sell for a total c$30 million.

The proposed project, permitted by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal nearly a year ago and penned by Powell & Glenn, contains eight dwellings.

Kay & Burton’s Peter Kudelka and Damon Krongold are representing Mr Sadikay, who also established Ozmosis – now a Rip Curl brand (Surf Dive ‘n Ski meanwhile, which Mr Sadikay sold years ago to Quiksilver, was last April acquired by Authentic Brand Group).

The blocks are also available individually.

The listing comes eight years since Mr Sadikay paid $33m – against $16m hopes – for neighbouring properties on Anderson Street, South Yarra, opposite the Royal Botanic Gardens – which have since made way for a luxury apartment and townhouse project, The Botanic Collection.
