Google and Accenture Fully Lease workplace6 Office Building in Sydney

Google has leased levels four to six and Accenture has leased levels two to three for a 12 year term. DTZ and Colliers International acted as leasing agents. Google will occupy the space from practical completion in October 2008, with Accenture occupying post completion.

workplace6 sets a benchmark in new office development, employing world best practice in its design and construction and has recently been awarded the first 6 Star Green Star – Office DesignV2 rating by the Green Building Council of Australia. Further, the building is anticipated to achieve a 5 Star Australian Building Greenhouse Rating (ABGR).

Tony Cope, GPT’s Head of Office, said the development, which started construction in April 2007, has attracted high quality tenants such as Google and Accenture because of the world class sustainability measures and certified ratings, its location and innovative design.

“workplace6 is at the leading edge of sustainable design, which is a reflection of GPT’s commitment to world’s best environmental practice in this space. We believe this is the benchmark that quality tenants seeking high profile locations expect, and are pleased to now welcome Google and Accenture as tenants of workplace6,” Mr Cope said.

Robert Hohnen, a senior-executive at Accenture said the company was initially attracted to workplace6 because of its environmental credentials. He also said the state-of-the-art building will help the company attract and retain the best talent in Sydney.

“We are very aware of the impact our operation has on the environment. We have always strived to reduce our environmental footprint and relocating to workplace6 is an exciting step in this journey. We also believe the new facility will be a fantastic collaborative environment for our employees and will help us in continuing to attract the best talent on the market,” Mr Hohnen said.

Google’s Australian operations were established in 2003 and are a major hub for Google in the Asia-Pacific region. Its Sydney office is home to significant research, development and engineering teams, as well as sales, online operations and other functions.

Every effort has been made to optimise occupant comfort, alertness, health and wellbeing. Innovative approaches to sustainability include a footprint that allows natural light penetration across internal work spaces via an atrium; operable windows for natural ventilation and improved air quality; chilled beam cooling; harbour heat exchange for cooling in lieu of traditional cooling towers and grey and black water recycling. In addition, The GPT Group will provide 25% GreenPower to the building, a feature GPT has adopted for approximately 96% of the extensive office portfolio managed by the Group.

The campus-style office tower incorporates floor plates of 3,590 sqm on average. The spaces are not only generous but well proportioned and designed to inspire workplace interaction, which was another drawcard for Google, who are renowned for their unique and creative work environments.

The building’s premium amenities will also include showers and change rooms with lockers, 135 secure car spaces and 120 bicycle racks. Operable facades will even allow tenants to install open wintergardens in various locations throughout the campus-style workplace.

GPT has also committed to the purchase of mountain bikes and sporting equipment which will be available for use at workplace6.
