Aged care approved for another golf course site

The owner of the 88 year old Cumberland Country Golf Club at Greystanes, with investment house and developer, Pariter, has been given the green light to replace part of the course with a $160 million retirement living community.
The NSW Department of Planning this week permitted the complex, with 234 apartments in several buildings up to seven storeys (artist’s impression, top).
A cinema, consulting rooms for allied health professionals, a multi-purpose room and gym also forms part of the design.
Part of the 18-hole course will be reconfigured ahead of constructing beginning next year.
The deal comes a week since we reported Dexus backed Third.i to develop a retirement living community on part of the Merewether Golf Club, at Adamstown near Newcastle.
Cumberland Country Golf Club development
The Greystanes retirement living complex will spread across Old Prospect Road.
“This partnership is about preserving the spirit of our Club while opening the door to new opportunities,” Cumberland Country Club president, Denis Clifford, said.
“It secures a strong future…and ensures our legacy continues to serve not only our members but also a new generation of residents who share our passion for community and healthy, active living,” he added.
“Within the site’s primary social locality (800m radius) the 70-84 age group is substantially larger at 13.8 per cent compared to the secondary social locality (7.6pc within a 10km site radius) and Greater Sydney’s (at 8.4pc),” according to the executive.
“Greystanes itself is home to a particularly high population of older residents, highlighting the strong market need for high-quality, connected retirement living solutions.
“Residents of the future community will be just steps away from the golf course, clubhouse dining, and a welcoming social calendar – all part of a long-term collaboration between the Club and Pariter”.
Greystanes is about 25 kilometres west of Sydney’s CBD.
