G’day Group sublets waterfront holiday park
G’day Group has sub-let the Bargara Beachfront Holiday Park (pictured, top) near Bundaberg.
The Adelaide-based ASX listed group won a tender take over the 20 year lease for the 6.7 hectare ex-Big 4, with 319 tourist sites – 226 powered blocks, 78 unpowered and 15 cabins – a playground, skate park, tennis courts, BBQs and a camp kitchen.
Bundaberg Regional Council facilitated the agreement which will see the incoming operator invest $2m as part of a broader $10m investment over the balance of the lease term.
The park will now be rebranded Discovery Parks – Bargara.
“This is a fantastic deal for the group to add another Discovery Parks destination in a tightly held coastal location,” G’day Group founder and chief executive officer, Grant Wilckens, said.
“With significant development upside, we have an exciting opportunity to enhance tourism in the Bundaberg region, working closely with the council as it looks to enact its masterplan to develop the Nielson Park precinct,” he added.
Nationally, there are over 90 Discovery Parks and Resorts.
