Marina Darling sets Victorian record with Toorak sale

Former Mirvac executive Marina Darling and her husband Anthony have sold their 1920s Toorak mansion Mowbray for $40 million – a state record price.

The off-market deal for 18 St Georges Road, said to be to an Asia-based buyer, was speculated last month but without a street number.

The property has now been confirmed.

The vendors paid $4.9m for it, then renovated, in 1995.

It is now part-damaged.

On more than 4000 square metres – agents say it has been touted off-market for about three years.

RT Edgar is believed to have found the buyer.

According to a Stonnington council report, Mowbray was designed by architect and owner Christopher Cowper and still occupies the footprint its original plan.

The fence, which council describes as “very significant”, has been retained; it is red brick with rendered cappings and mosaic tile signage.
