Cadence built the facility in 2018 and secured COSCO to a 15 year lease.

Dexus is selling a landmark west Melbourne container handling facility bought after the city’s COVID lockdowns.

The seven hectare investment, 28 Jones Road, Brooklyn, is trading for $35.1 million following a public campaign.

It paid $46m excluding acquisition costs in April, 2022.

That seller, Cadence, representing Canberra fund manager, Argus Property Investments, constructed the container handling hub in 2018, also securing shipping giant COSCO subsidiary Oceania Container Services to a 15 year lease.

Able to store 8500 shipping containers, the Brooklyn asset also includes a wash bay, workshop, warehouse and offices – all up, 4431 square metres (story continues below).

Just over 5.3 hectares is hardstand, developed around several service easements.

Oceania pays annual rent of $1.74m; 10 kilometres from town, it is the group’s only Melbourne facility.

JLL’s Ben Hegerty, Joel Scully and Jack Kelliher were the agents.

More to come.
