Coburg Real Estate Market Goes Through the Roof

Several million dollar properties are on the market, with agents saying a new record – for the Koorali mansion in The Grove – is imminent. The property is one of three expected to fetch more than $1 million at auction next month, and one of a dozen expected to sell for more than half a million.

Not bad for a suburb that has for years been defined by the 1970s double-fronted brick veneer.

The latest period home to hit the market is 13 Jesse Street, only a few blocks from Koorali. The fully renovated 4-bedroom double-fronted Victorian, with self-contained bungalow sits on a 913 square metre block of land, and has been the family home of a Carlton restaurateur.

Hocking Stuart Brunswick sales agent Stuart Evans says he expects the property to sell for more than $750,000 when it goes to auction at midday on March 10.

Other properties to come to the market recently include a 1920s Californian Bungalow at 5 The Grove which is expected to sell for more than $1.1 million, and an architect-designed sprawling mansion overlooking the Merri Creek at 8 Baker Street which is expected to fetch more than $900,000. Both these properties are being managed by Nelson Alexander.
