ASICS Oceania calls in local sports stars to open landmark Marsden Park HQ

Sportswear giant ASICS Oceania called in several high-profile sponsors to open its landmark Australian headquarters at Marsden Park, about 50 kilometres north west of the Sydney CBD.

Rugby stars Cooper Cronk and Kurtley Beale, with tennis player Stam Stosur, netballer Caitlin Bassett, high-jumper Brandon Starc, and senior ASICS executives, unveiled the 5.7 hectare Richmond Road complex last week.

The base includes a 4000 square metre contemporary office with conferencing facilities and a gym, a 24,960 sqm warehouse and distribution centre and 1500 sqm retail factory outlet.

The 5.7 hectare site is configured with an office, warehouse, retail factory outlet, 4500 sqm playing field, gym and Japanese inspired garden.

ASICS Oceania staff also have private use of a 4500 sqm sports playing field and Japanese inspired garden.

Part of the 256-hectare Sydney Business Park, the facility was penned by London-based WDC Design, with local outfits, Reid Capital and Siren Design.

It was constructed by Richard Crookes and Renascent.

The contemporary office has a mezzanine break-out area.

ASICS Oceania employees, retailers, business partners, as well as representatives from Sydney Business Park and Blacktown City Council were also at the launch.

The sports brand’s managing director, Mark Brunton, said the office, warehouse and retail space allows for future growth and greater operating efficiency, “enabling us to better service our retail partners and customers across Australia”.

“A wide range of sustainability measures were incorporated including photo-voltaic solar electricity, energy smart metering and monitoring, energy efficient LED skylights to enhance natural lighting, performance glazing and insulated wall panels, storm water quality improvement devices and water efficient fixtures,” the tenant said.

Other Sydney Business Park occupiers include Aldi, Axalta Coating Systems, Bunnings, Costco, Dulux, IKEA, Lindt, Linfox and Toll.

Sydney Business Park sales and leasing director Matt Foldes – who negotiated ASICS Oceania’s lease – said businesses were attracted to the precinct’s master-planned road network, close proximity to the Westlink M7 Motorway, the ‘campus- style’ design of buildings, “as well as excellent amenity for staff, customers and visitors to enjoy.”

“The opportunity for companies such as ASICS to co-locate various functions including retail, office and warehouse on a single site is one of the unique features of the estate and we are well placed to accommodate the commercial needs of these large and growing businesses.”

Sydney Business Park development director Owen Walsh added that the estate is about a quarter developed.

“Upon completion the area is set to create some 30,000 new direct jobs for Western Sydney, making it one of the state’s largest employment growth centres and economic drivers.

“The major new retailers and businesses who have opened here have created thousands of new job opportunities and that has resulted in new residential communities to be developed,” Mr Walsh added.

“The next five years will see even more dramatic transformation with commercial office towers, as well as a new 123-room hotel and the commencement of the Marsden Park Town Centre.

“By 2025, the surrounding North West Growth Centre is expected to support 177,000 new residents and 61,900 new homes,” the executive said.

Sporting identities Cooper Cronk, Sam Stosur, Caitlin Bassett, Brandon Starc and Kurtley Beale joined ASICS Oceania executives to open the Marsden Park headquarters last week.
The factory outlet includes a mock starting line and test track with different surface types.
