Witches in Britches site closer to being developed
Jinding will shortly know whether it can replace the former Witches in Britches restaurant with a four storey office.
The developer in late 2022 paid $7.3 million for the parkside block at 78-86 Dudley Street, on the north east corner of King, in West Melbourne.
Carr penned the redesign with 1683 square metres of office space over 715 sqm of hospitality area.
At 14 metres, it will rise to the site’s building height limit.
Structures to support an activated rooftop will extend it to 17.4m, affecting shadowing at Flagstaff Gardens between 2:30-3:30pm on the winter solstice.
The project also includes a basement with end of trip facilities and 22 car parks accessed from a rear lane (continues below).
The City of Melbourne via the Future Melbourne Committee received an application to review last month.
The project which has already been approved by planning officer, is expected to cost c$13.5m to build.
Witches in Britches opened in the 1990s.
The site has been used for hospitality since 1869 when it was the Flagstaff Inn, later known as the Flagstaff Family Hotel and Flagstaff Hotel.
