Coles moves forward with leafy east Melbourne store, apartments

The priciest White & Weston units are asking $4 million.

Coles Group is moving ahead with a mixed-use complex it will anchor the supermarket component of, in Melbourne’s exclusive east Balwyn.

Jack Merlo will landscape the White & Weston communal rooftop.

The retail giant will team with Dimas Property Group to deliver the three storey project (artist’s impression, top) also with 45 dwellings – a mix of two, three and four bedrooms.

A 655 square metre communal rooftop garden to be landscaped by Jack Merlo and basement car park also form part of the Cera Stribley development, branded White & Weston, at 259-281 Whitehorse Road.

Development at last

Covering eight sites, now mostly cleared, the Balwyn development on the north east corner of Weston Street was approved in late 2021.

Marshall White this month started marketing the dwellings off-the-plan; they range from $845,000 to $4 million.

Woolworths Balwyn traded on a 2.99 per cent yield in 2021.

This pocket of the suburb, diagonally adjacent to Balwyn Park, is about 10 kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD.

In the suburb, four years ago, the Woolworths on Whitehorse Road traded for over $45m, a low 2.99 per cent yield.

Vinci Carbone’s Frank Vinci and Joseph Carbone were the agents.
